Wizard of Oz

“The feet of the dead Witch had disappeared entirely, and nothing was left but the silver shoes. ‘She was so old,’ explained the Witch of the North, ‘that she dried up quickly in the sun. That is the end of her. But the silver shoes are yours, and you shall have them to wear.'” – The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

I’m not sure when I watched The Wizard of Oz for the first time, but ever since then and up until a couple of days ago, I thought that Dorothy had red ruby slippers. I expected the book to be different than the movie, but I didn’t think they would go as far to change the color of her shoes! I had always wondered why the feet of Wicked Witch of the East had shriveled up when her shoes were removed. . . now I know why.

Recently I’ve been reading free ebooks because it’s too cold to do much outside and watching tv shows online can be exasperating. I have Hotspot Shield on my Mac, and Peter has both Hotspot Shield and UltraSurf. I had originally downloaded Hotspot to my Mac and Peter’s PC, but shows were stopping every two seconds to load. So I looked for something better and came up with UltraSurf, but it’s only for Windows. Neither programs are currently working right, but iTunes let me rent a movie last night. I was really surprised that it actually worked. I didn’t even need to hide my ip address! I guess the real test is how it works when we watch it tonight. It’s downloaded onto my computer instead of streaming online so I think it will be ok.
