Why Hong Kong?

We had the last week in July off from teaching, and we decided to use that time to visit another nearby country. In March/April we started thinking about where we wanted to go. We considered the Philippines, Japan, China, and Bangkok. We choose Hong Kong because we didn’t need a visa to visit. If we wanted to visit mainland China we would have had to pay $130 USD for the visa. We can visit Japan without a visa, and we are still considering visiting on one of our 3 day weekends. The biggest reason why we choose Hong Kong was that Peter wanted to go there the most. The inexpensive hotel, the diverse attractions, and the Discover Hong Kong website helped convince Peter that Hong Kong was the best choice.
